I can’t believe we’ve made it through
The Calm:

The Storm:

Thanks for weatherin’ it with us, y’all. Thanks to everyone who came out, thanks to everyone who endured our extravagant new entree fee. Thanks to everyone who documented the madness. Thanks to all those that brought musical instruments. Thanks to beer for making us feel the way it does. Thanks to the dirt for holding us up, getting in our shoes, faces, hair and teeth. Thanks to everyone who pushed themselves to compete. Thanks to our sponsors, De La Paz, Rickshaw, Chrome, Toronado, and others who I’ll certainly be scolded for missing here. Thanks to everyone who trusted some strange man with their money. He’s told me in no uncertain terms, that as soon as he doubles everyone’s money in Vegas, he’ll buy everyone 2 kits and a soda pop. Should take about 2-3 months. Thanks to everyone for being everyone. I really do get to feeling sometimes, that these events, put on and attended for no other reason than a general celebration of bicycles and fiesta (celebration of fiesta? is that redundant?) are truly one of the best reasons to live in San Francisco.
And now the no thanks. No thanks to us, you all have no clue as to where you finished in the event. Sure, we had high aspirations of managing excel spreadsheets of overall placement through the series, but have you ever tried to look at a spreadsheet after your eyes are filled with dust, your legs feeling like noodles, and your brain cushioned by 4 keg cups of strong beer? It’s wierd. We then settled for aspirations of establishing handles. We lost those notes shortly after setting said aspirations. So then we just wanted to figure out who was first per gender, who was last overall, and who was special, and in need of prizes. I believe we got the 1st places right, but just about everything else was a little too much a matter of conjecture for us to be called anything but the hooptey-est ass race series this side of the rio grande.
And you wouldn’t have it any other way, would you?
Perhaps sometime, in the not too distant future, we’ll make it up to you. We’ll try to have a timer, and sober counters, and no laps, and some sort of time trail event, somewhere we’ve never had an event before….
Thanks,
Soil Saloon

I am eager to join in in the future
